Napoleon's strategy was built on speed. He understood that strategic momentum was a force multiplier. By moving faster than the enemy's "OODA Loop" (to use a modern term), he forced them into mistakes.
To Napoleon, an army that stopped to rest was an army that was losing. He famously said, "I may lose a battle, but I shall never lose a minute."
His favorite move. He would use a small force to pin the enemy's front, while his main armyβmoving with incredible speedβswept around the enemy's flank to cut off their line of retreat.
Result
The enemy is forced to fight facing backwards, cut off from their supplies and reinforcements.
